Volunteer

We always have vacancies for various kinds of volunteer work, but are particularly looking for the following:

Cat fosterers – people willing to keep a cat on their premises and look after it properly pending our finding it a loving home. We provide the necessary accommodation supply food and litter and pay for veterinary care. You provide the time, the attention and the love.

Relief cat fosterers – responsible individuals who can step-in once in a while to give our regular fosterers a break; particularly when they go on holiday or have business outwith Orkney.

Fundraisers – there are lots of things you can do to raise money to help unwanted cats in Orkney. This could be a sponsored walk, a pub quiz or even a show.

Other ways you can help!

At Orkney Islands Cats Protection we always have many cats requiring our assistance. Whilst we would ideally like you to provide a loving home for one of our many cats, there are many other ways in which you can help, to suit your circumstances. Not everyone can home a cat, and all of us are limited in the time or funds we can commit to helping Orkney's cats. Therefore, you may like to consider the following:

Join Orkney Islands Cats Protection

For only £8.00 you will support our cat rescue work, become a member of OICP, and receive our quarterly newsletter, keeping you up to date on how we are helping Orkney's cats.

Support our Fund Raising Events

Come along to our fund raisers, as advertised in the local press and via our newsletter and website.

Donate Unwanted Items

Cages, feeding bowls, baskets and blankets are always needed. Other saleable items can be sold at our jumble and car-boot sales.

Save Your Used Hewlett Packard Print Cartridges

Every empty original HP inkjet print cartridge we receive in good order is worth £1.50. We esp. call upon companies and organizations to donate their used cartridges to Orkney Cats Protection. A list of collection points will hopefully soon be available on this website.

You can also support us by registering for The Recycling Appeal programme upon which you will be sent FREEPOST envelopes in which you can return your cartridges.
