If you have adopted one or more cats from Orkney Islands Cats Protection, we would love to hear from you how you and your new pets are getting on. If you have any photos and/or stories to share, please send them for inclusion on this page!
Shadow
Shadow came into Orkney Islands Cats Protection when her elderly owner died. We would like to thank Jan and Kev at Nealand kennels and Cattery for their time and tlc with Shadow. Poor Shadow is a very elderly cat that hasn’t known much luxury in her life. Despite her health problems which sadly cannot be treated, Jan and Kev are keeping Shadow until she becomes uncomfortable. Shadow is having some happy last few weeks, lots of pampering and good food.

Ramone
Just to let you know three weeks have now passed and Ramone (formerly known as Mozart) has settled in like he was meant to be here. He loves to play and we have discovered has a likeness for chasing your bare toes across the floor!! As you can see from the picture he is also loving the lazy life. He has had his second injection and has gained 1/2 kilo so is starting to look a lot healthier.
Thank you so much
Inga, Jason and Ramone xx

Boris
"Dear OICP,
Please find attached some pics of Boris in his new home. We are so fond of him, he is a lovely cat :o)) Thank you very much once again and keep up the fantastic work !!!
Kevin & Linda"

After having lived with fosterers at OICP for a very long time, Buttons and Catwoman have now found a very good home with Sidney, who sent us the following Quicktime presentation of how he is getting on with both the cats.

Recently one of our rescue cats, Pinky, was adopted by Trudy and family. Pinky has settled in wonderfully, and loves her new friend Frost. Here is what Trudy wrote us:

Pinky's best friend is our german shep Frost. They get up to all kinds of mischief together. Pinky reaches the high objects and plays with them with Frost. Frost then chews them to bits! They did this with the gun dog whistle hanging up out of the dogs reach, Pinky climbed up the curtain to get it and then what fun they had! It is no longer any use as a whistle! The 2 friends share food, games, walks and sleep together.

Beatrice has adopted Simkin and she sent us some photos to show us how he is getting on.

Yarmie came to OICP as a small kitten after she was found in an abandoned farm by a kind lady who took her to us. She appeared to be okay initially, but it turned out that Yarmie had pneumonia and she's had a very hard six months thereafter. Fortunately, Chessa adopted Yarmie, now called Clodagh, and she has slowly been nursed back to good health by a combination of antibiotics and lots of love and warmth!

You may remember we had Daisy up for adoption for quite some time, but she has finally found a wonderful new home with Lesley, who has renamed her Amber and has sent us a photograph to show us how well Amber is doing!
Brodgar and King Tut (formerly known as Spike)
Hello! I just wanted to share a few pictures of the lovely black kittens we adopted from OICP this winter! We re-named Spike "King Tut" and Brodgar has kept her name. They are both wonderful pusses!
Erlend Spence + Michelle at Beaquoy Farm, Dounby

The volunteers at OICP fondly remember little Brodgar, who was found by our supporter Shayla, a lady who lives in Hawaii but comes to holiday here every year, at, as her name already suggests, the Ring of Brodgar. Brodgar was more dead than alive, and with a lot of intensive care and love, she slowly made a wonderful recovery. We are all so pleased to see her doing so well and being so happy with her mate King Tut, who was a lovely little kitten and has grown up into a handsome young tom!
And here they both are, together on the farm :-)
