Recent Events

On December 22nd 2007
we got the chance to rally our volunteers and pack bags at Somerfield's checkouts. The amount we raised was £782.37. Thank you very much to the Somerfield management and all who donated and helped!

September 29th was the day of our second annual Black Cat Bazaar at the King Street Halls, Kirkwall. This was an even greater success than last year, with £1,851 raised! Thank you to all who helped and visited!

On Thursday 9th of August we attended the West Mainland Agricultural Show in Dounby, and raised £257

Your donations

Please remember that all donations stay in Orkney for local cats and are much needed. The monthly running costs of our charity are around £700, so we continuously have to keep on raising more funds to keep the good work going. We sincerely hope that you will support us at any of these events, become a member of Orkney Islands Cats Protection or sponsor a cat cabin. If you have some spare time we would also be very keen to welcome you as a volunteer.

We all hope that you will come along and support Orkney Islands Cats Protection at any one of the events that are listed below.

Please note that all the money raised by our Branch in Orkney stays in Orkney and goes towards the cats in our care as well as help colonies of feral cats through our neutering schemes.

We hope to run a very full programme to help Orkney cats this summer but we will need lots of help to make it all happen! Please can you help? 

Here are some dates for future events planned:

1st June: SUMMER SKIRMISH at the Harray Hall. A fun event with games for kids of all ages; Teddy Bear's Picnic; Treasure Hunt; Teas; Sales table.

We would like more ideas for games and, of course willing helpers to run activities and help with home bakes for the Teas. To make this a success we need helpers to come forward or we may have to postpone this event. 

14th June: FARMERS MARKET, Kirkwall. Help us serve pancakes or come along and enjoy PURRfect pancakes served with a smile! 

Mid July – we have plans for a SILENT AUCTION.  We would welcome offers of a venue to display auction lots or donations of items to auction. 

9th August: Orkney Island Cats Protection are having a stand at the COUNTY SHOW. We will be holding our annual prize draw, selling Cats Protection goods, Christmas cards and showing photos of some of the cats we have helped so far. Please come and buy your early Christmas cards and gifts from us at the show. 

12th Sept (Friday): CONCERT in the King Street Halls. Local musicians entertain us with music of a cat theme. So it's not a CATastrophy, come and hear your favourite feline tunes! 

27th September: Annual BLACK CAT BAZAAR at the King Street Halls. Buy your Christmas cards and gifts; join us for home bakes, raffles, bric a brac, toys, games and fun. 

From Sept 29th - Oct 4th we will be helping at the BLUE DOOR charity shop.  If you have any items you would like to donate, we would be delighted to receive them. This is the biggest fund raising event of the year for our branch. We are grateful to be given the opportunity of working in the shop again this year and for the support of the public in Orkney.

8th November: Please support us at the CHARITIES BAZAAR. Again we will be selling Cats Protection Christmas cards and goods. CAT-tastic items - something on sale for everyone. 

Orkney Islands Cats Protection is fully staffed by volunteers. All donations go directly to help cats in our care. We are very grateful for the ongoing support from the people of Orkney and local businesses who give their time and money very generously.
